Temporary Faculty Associate

Description:

8-week appointment; $6,500 without benefits; renewable based on performance and enrollment.

ASU/AECP seeks individuals to teach English as a second language in areas of listening/speaking & reading/writing, elective courses including TOEFL preparation, grammar, pronunciation, conversational English, business English, American culture, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP). The positions are short-term, eight-week appointments. Teachers must become familiar with and follow the American English and Culture Program policies/procedures, submit an activity report, and keep office hours.

Required:

Candidates are required to have a Master's degree in teaching ESL/EFL, or a Master’s degree in a closely related field (English, Linguistics, or a Foreign Language) with 2 years of ESL/EFL teaching experience to adults, and evidence of native or near-native fluency in English.

Desired:

AECP desires candidates with teaching experience in an intensive English program for adults; overseas teaching experience; evidence of fluency in a second language; experience in ESP and special ESL programs; professional involvement in related areas and computer skills.

Employment Options for AECP Students

AECP students who wish to work should contact an AECP Student Advisor for information about their options and how to find a job.

F-1 Students Only:

It is not legal for AECP F-1 students to get a job off-campus.

To get a job on campus, follow these steps:

  • Apply for an on-campus job.
  • Get interviewed by a campus department.
  • Get a "job offer letter" from the campus department that hires you.
  • Ask the AECP Student Advisors for a "work authorization letter."
  • Use the "job offer letter" and "work authorization letter" to apply for a Social Security card.
  • To continue working, you must continue full-time AECP enrollment and pass all of your classes.

AECP F-1 students may only get a social security card by getting an on-campus job.
