Education for Humanity

Nearly 80 million people are displaced around the globe, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency, and fewer than 3% have access to higher education. Education for Humanity is trying to address that need.

Education for Humanity, an initiative of Arizona State University, is meeting that need by offering online courses to over 2,000 refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Israel, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Rwanda. Working in partnership with humanitarian agencies, the initiative offers online programs complemented by in-person facilitation to refugees and host community learners. These courses focus on preparation for online learning, English language acquisition, degree pathways and workforce skills.

Through Education for Humanity, ASU is a co-lead of the Connected Learning in Crisis Consortium alongside the UN Refugee Agency.
